Best Keyboard Shortcut I’ve Seen

This is by far the best keyboard shortcut list for Apple I’ve seen. I even love the design - feels like a mac!

Thanks Dan Rodney!

Best Mac Application

A friend of mine got a mac recently. He hasn’t used Mac OS in a very long time. He was asking me about applications that I use.

I told him about spirited away, Snapz Pro, Cyberduck, Bloglines Notifier, FCP Rescue, Mac the Ripper, Mediafork/handbrake, Monolingual, mpeg Streamclip, and Text Wrangler.

But I did not tell him about Quicksilver. I use quicksilver more than any application. It’s uses are really unlimited. Check out this link to 43folders for any post related to Quicksilver, this is where I heard about it (and learned how to use it).

Cool Widget

I found a widget last night that enables you to click it and will put your display to sleep.

Simple, yet very effective.

Cool Program

If you have a mac you have to check out this program! It is something I have used for a while and I love it. I was just iChatting a friend of mine and told him about it. I figured I would put the link up here.

Basically it hides inactive applications. Pretty simple idea. Instead of hitting Apple + H to hide a program, it does it for you automatically.

One note, tell it to exclude finder. If it hides finder then you may be working in (insert fav app here) and hit apple + h to hide and it won’t hide. This is because finder is hidden and you have to have one app not hidden.

Also I have my inactive time to set to 90 secs if anyone is curious.

Hope you enjoy!

Great tip to keep your Mac fast!

This is from an article in Macworld. You can find the rest of the article here

Reduce desktop clutter

The desktop can be a great place to drop stuff, but because of the way OSXhandles desktop icons, putting stuff there can also slow your system down. The operating system treats each desktop icon just like a full-size Finder window—the icon takes up a chunk of memory, and the system has to track its position and size at all times. Drop enough files and folders on your desktop, and you may start to notice side effects (such as spinning beach balls) when you’re trying to do something as simple as open a new Finder window. Here’s one simple way to cut down on the clutter (and system drag) without losing that handy storage place: create a folder or two on your desktop (call them Need To Look At and Things To Do, for example), and then move all the items from your desktop into the new folders.

Cool zoom on Tiger

I went over to JR and Joe’s place tonight for a Halo party (wow it’s been a long time).  Anyway my friend Matt was in from Texas.  He used to live here but now works at a church called watermark in Texas.  That was the reason for the Halo party.

Anyways, while watching JR show us some funny videos on youtube(and here) I saw him do a cool trick that I had never seen before.  I pride myself on knowing tons of apple shortcuts, but I had never seen this one.

Hold down ctrl while scrolling your mighty mouse or touchpad and your screen will zoom in. You can then use your scroll to move around the screen while zoomed in.

Anybody used this one before?  Maybe I’m an idiot and just missed this one somehow.  Leave some comments and let me know.
