Heavenly Father vs Earthly Father

So during my quiet time tonight I was reading 2 Kings 4 and God spoke to me about meeting my family’s needs and taking care of us.  I began to pray after reading and had an amazing conversation w/ God.  Anyways while praying for my kids I hear Luke start crying in the back bedroom.  So I think it’s probably no big deal because he has been whiny today.  I felt God impress on my heart that He is always there for me and I should go be there for my son.

I get in the room and he is laying on the bed crying, “I want Pikachu!”  He was playing his Nintendo DS and was sad because he lost Pikachu character on the game.  I had two choices.  Say, “Ah it’ll be alright.  It’s just a game.” or “Son, you’re a great Pokemon player and I’m sure if you try hard you can get him back eventually.”  I chose the second.  He immediately picked up his DS and started trying again.

I love how when you pray and read God’s Word you are changed.  PERIOD.  If I had not just left quiet time w/ my Father, I honestly probably would not have reacted the same way as I did.  Also I think it’s great to note that God is concerned about the little things in our lives.  I don’t really have a vested interest in Luke’s Pokemon playing.  But I do care that he was genuinly hurt.  That’s the same for our heavenly Father.  I don’t have “In A Pit With A Lion…”with me, but if I did I would quote the part where Mark talks about the floating ax head story in the Bible.  Go read the book.  But only if you’ve read the Bible today. It’s more important.

Goodnight sweetheart

I always sing that song from 3 men and a baby to my kids when they can’t sleep.

Luke asked Alisha to sing it to him and he said she didn’t sing as well as I did.  So he sang it to Tyra.

Alisha told me about this on the phone and Luke decided he wanted to sing it to me. It was the CUTEST thing ever.  I will try to record it and put it up here tomorrow or Monday.

Here is what else I have missed while separated:

  • Luke is listening to David Crowder and apparently loves the song “We Win!”
  • Luke has a new Teenage INJIN (as he says) turtle mask/outfit
  • Luke is talking a lot more (no surprise since Alisha is probably talking his ear off!) :)
  • Luke is finally hitting that age where he understands reasoning and doesn’t just react by crying
  • Mia has been having a great time being out with everyone
  • Tyra says daddy a lot and looks forward to talking to me on the phone

I can’t wait until the iSight I am borrowing from Ev get’s there so we can do a video chat with each other!

Goodnight my family!

I’m Your Uncle Barry!

I’m Your HuckleBerryLuke Got this gun and holster today. I told him to go say to his mommy, “I’m your huckleberry”. Instead he went in there and said, “I’m your uncle barry!”

I love watching a kid think

Luke the other night was asking his mommy about when he was a baby.  He specifically asked what blanket he had.  Alisha told him that he had that blue blanket like he has now and that she got it for him while he was still in her tummy.

Luke got silent. You could tell he was thinking about what his mother had just told him.  After some thought he asked, “did you put the blanket down your throat to get it to me?”
