Archives For Thoughts

Ok, so I watched the AMA’s alone at night the other night on my DVR and since I was alone I thought I’d share my opinions.  I was lonely that night I guess! :)

  • Jimmy Kimmel is funnier than I thought *updated after whole show* ok, maybe not so much!
  • Is Jamie Foxx really that arrogant and cocky?
  • NKOTB – ok, confession time. My first concert ever was NKOTB in fourth grade!  … Seriously… ok… stop… stop laughng!
  • NKOTB – there’s something creepy about 30 yr old guys on stage singing like teenage eunuchs.
  • Paris and T Pain – wow both of them are cocky – which is shinier? Paris’ dress or T’s Grillz?
  • Awkward intro for Scott Weiland –  “Dominant Rock Force in Rock n Roll” thought that was funny since he’s not with velvet revolver anymore or STP
  • Pink. Is. AWESOME!
  • I like Kanye’s speech
  • Billy Ray Cyrus’ head bobbin was killin me
  • Miley Cyrus – you know… I’ll admit it. I like some of the songs I’ve heard from her. Haven’t heard too much though
  • Coldplay – wonder if Chris had one of those transmitters where the light follows him around because the spot was coming from above and when he laid down (fell?) in the confetti the light stopped following him and I noticed 2 or 3 stage hands running over to where he was. Possibly to find the transmitter? Nope – watched it again, I was wrong. Lighting guy just messed up
  • In case your following along you may notice I’m skipping country music, there’s a reason for that. I agree with Tony!
  • Didn’t know Mariah had broken so many records.  She looks akward/scared on stage.  Is the fan getting on her nerves?
  • Mia got excited about the Jonas Brothers
  • Wow Jonas Brothers won something that involved fans texting… imagine that.
  • Beyonce’s performance – agree with JaySizzle!  Also thought it was better with JT and Andy from SNL. (can’t find clip)
  • Pussycat Dolls – is that one chick the only one that can sing?
  • Had no idea Annie Lennox was so active in helping people. I like that JT pointed out it was done silently and most don’t know about it – she’s hopefully doing it for the right reasons
  • Sarah McLachlan and Pink was awesome. Pretty cool for Pink to get to sing with her and show how awesome her voice is and not just some punk rock talentless chick.
  • Is Chris Brown trying to bring back members only jackets? I hope not.
  • WHOAA big fail on Queen Latifah’s microphone being off

Thanks for watching the AMA’s with me and keeping me company!

My Fragile Blogger Ego

Tim Lemons —  December 1, 2008 — 2 Comments

I’m not sure my fragile blogger ego can handle knowing all the people that quit me on twitter.  Isn’t ingnorance bliss?  My own best man in my wedding stopped following me.

So Josh, what’s up man? you can talk about your kids and when they have soccer games but I can’t post a pic of my daughter for my family who lives 1,000 miles away?  Or maybe it’s because I don’t refer to my kids as numbers?

Actually since you can’t hear my sarcastic voice – I’m joking around. Josh I like the idea of numbers for kids – works great for twitter especially if you have as many kids as you do. :)  Maybe you’ll follow me again one day Josh and Greg.  Until then, I’m still gonna archive my life for myself if for no one else.

Fantasy Football Fail

Don’t ya just hate it when you make stupid mistakes.  I tried to put Matt Cassel in because he had a higher estimated points than Trent Edwards but I forgot he was playing on Thursday night and didn’t try to get him in the game until it had already started.  Oh well!  Notice my bench has more points than my active players.  FAIL

Quite Time Funny

I love spending time with God.  I was a little down about something and as I started my quiet time I prayed God teach me something from your word today as I always do.  I opened to my daily reading and it was Ezekiel chapter 3, ““Now, son of man, take a sharp sword and use it as a straight razor, shaving your head and your beard.”  I had to laugh out loud.  It’s a good thing we have discernment from the Holy Spirit because I have a really weird dent in the back of my head and I’m pretty sure it would look weird with a shaved head.

Anybody else have any funny stories like that they want to share?

So during my quiet time tonight I was reading 2 Kings 4 and God spoke to me about meeting my family’s needs and taking care of us.  I began to pray after reading and had an amazing conversation w/ God.  Anyways while praying for my kids I hear Luke start crying in the back bedroom.  So I think it’s probably no big deal because he has been whiny today.  I felt God impress on my heart that He is always there for me and I should go be there for my son.

I get in the room and he is laying on the bed crying, “I want Pikachu!”  He was playing his Nintendo DS and was sad because he lost Pikachu character on the game.  I had two choices.  Say, “Ah it’ll be alright.  It’s just a game.” or “Son, you’re a great Pokemon player and I’m sure if you try hard you can get him back eventually.”  I chose the second.  He immediately picked up his DS and started trying again.

I love how when you pray and read God’s Word you are changed.  PERIOD.  If I had not just left quiet time w/ my Father, I honestly probably would not have reacted the same way as I did.  Also I think it’s great to note that God is concerned about the little things in our lives.  I don’t really have a vested interest in Luke’s Pokemon playing.  But I do care that he was genuinly hurt.  That’s the same for our heavenly Father.  I don’t have “In A Pit With A Lion…”with me, but if I did I would quote the part where Mark talks about the floating ax head story in the Bible.  Go read the book.  But only if you’ve read the Bible today. It’s more important.

At the end of Craig’s Message he read this prayer and it was awesome! This is only part of it, I found it here.

May God bless you with discomfort at easy answers, half truths, and superficial relationships, so that you may live deep within your heart.

May God bless you with anger at injustice, oppression, and exploitation of people, so that you may work for justice, freedom and peace.

May God bless you with tears to shed for those who suffer from pain, rejection, starvation, and war, so that you may reach out your hand to comfort them and to turn their pain in to joy.

And may God bless you with enough foolishness to believe that you can make a difference in this world, so that you can do what others claim cannot be done.

Quiet time

11 I know what I’m doing. I have it all planned out—plans to take care of you, not abandon you, plans to give you the future you hope for. 12 “When you call on me, when you come and pray to me, I’ll listen. 13 “When you come looking for me, you’ll find me. “Yes, when you get serious about finding me and want it more than anything else,

14 I’ll make sure you won’t be disappointed.” God’s Decree.

I’m glad He knows what He’s doing, cause I sure don’t!

Watching internet campus as I type this!  Just some thoughts, observations.

  • Welcome video from Internet Campus Pastor – said time to take offering and a paypal link popped up on the right.
  • At the movies is series
  • Awesome scenes for Craig – switching in and out of movie and sermon.
  • Scripture background is something from scene Craig is in! Awesome
  • Foley while Craig is talking, cars, buses, streets. same as movie
  • Touching message, touching movie
  • Interactivity – raise hand if your hurting click button that says raise your hand

      • oh, I get it anyways, they told me right after the prayer what to do! NICE!
  • Liked the podcast – esq video about Will Smith – curious if that was for internet campus only because of the “internet savvy” audience
  • One suggestion – provide a place to meet people who want to meet people.  I could invite friends from email, but no way to see who was there and connect with those people.
    • ok, now that service is over I went to lobby and saw the chatroom. Just saw you could add friends. curious if you could whisper thoughts to friends during sermon like you can in a “brick and mortar” church.

Pretty Awesome! I will do my best to start watching on a weekly basis. Great place for me to get fed as a minister who is always “busy” during church services!  Thank you LifeChurch and the digerati crew!

Love that you use facebook – very powerful tool! Also terry storch, keep sending out twitters as reminders about internet campus so I won’t forget :) Or does the internet campus have a twitter account?
