Archives For Thoughts

Read this great blog just now and this line really stuck out to me.

…the thing that bothers me is that when people think they are deep because they know a lot of information and they are able to confuse others about Christ rather than lead them to Him.

Man I got a ton of that @ school. All the stupid arrogant people that think they know it all, and all they do is push people further away from understanding Christ.

Give me Jesus Christ, crucified, risen and who will one day return…not another Bible study on the weight of the Ark of the Covenant.

Just read that line and had to add it in!

You have to watch this video from Newspring.  Thanks to Ken for sharing.

God Came Near

Vacation

October 22, 2007 — Leave a comment

I am on vacation this week. It started Thursday evening and I’ll go back to work on Sunday the 28th. There is lots to do around the house. Alisha has a long list of stuff for me to do including, but not limited to: paint the shutters, clean out vehicles, help clean/organize the kids playroom, super clean the house, etc.

I have some goals of my own. Mine are way better though!

  • Learn CSSedit
  • Finish youth website (technically that’s work, but I enjoy it and it kind of goes along with learning CSSedit)
  • Create space on my Macbook Pro (down to 1 GB)
  • Clean Home Office
  • Finish the Fight on Legendary and achieve rank of 20 (hopefully 30)
  • See a movie w/ the kids (not sure what’s out)
  • Create something cool in After Effects (it’s been too long)
  • Play some Madden 08 and finish a superstar season
  • Have a play day with my Uncle. 2-3 times a year we get together and just hang out and play whatever console we happen to have at the time. We will probably play madden 08 and I would like to rent a wrestling game for the 360.

It's Been Awhile

Wow, I haven’t blogged in a while.  It’s kind of a shame because I have had a lot of blog-worthy events going on.

  • Top of the list – I got to baptize my daughter.  That definitely ranks up there with one of the best days of my life.  It was an unforgettable experience.  It’s pretty awesome to baptize anyone and I’ve had that opportunity a few times, but this was the best.  I also baptized my two cousins Autumn & Eli on the same day.
  • My grandmother had a very bad accident.  I am still praising God because she walked away without a scratch.  She called me while in the car after the accident telling me she had a wreck.  I didn’t think it was that bad, but when I pulled up to the scene there were 3 Counties and 2 ambulances.  That kind of freaked me out.  I walked down into the ditch and first thing she did was hand me the check she was delivering to me.  She was on her way to see me @ the church office.  I knew then she was ok. :)   They put her on a stretcher and took her to the hospital for x-rays.  Everything came back ok and they sent her home.  She is still sore today, but doing great!
  • Today is my last day before I take a week of vacation!  WHOOO-HOOOO!
  • Had Lost night last night, never noticed before – but in the episode “Adrift” of season 2 the shark in the water has a Dharma logo near it’s tail.
  • Halo 3 is AWESOME!
  • Bought Madden 08 with my birthday money from my Grandparents in Florida.  It is awesome.  Currently I’m doing the superstar mode because I don’t have much time to play and that way I get to play only when my player is on the field.

I know I’m missing something I wanted to blog about, but oh well. That’s what happens when you don’t do it everyday.

God is in the Blog!

August 9, 2007 — 3 Comments

I have really enjoyed getting into reading and posting blogs.  I gotta tell ya that today God spoke to me through a few different blogs that I have read.

First that I’ll mention is one I just read a little while ago from Mark Batterson:

Had to share one thought from the leadership seminar at the Assemblies of God General Council. Dary Northrop shared an amazing story about a stripper that found Christ at their Church–Timberline church. And he talked about how when you’re really reaching the unchurched it is messy! Then he shared a thought from the parable of the prodigal son.

If the younger brother had run into his elder brother first he would have never made it inside the house! Unfortunately, our churches are filled with the elder brother spirit. And sometimes it is the religiousity of elder brothers that can actually keep prodigals from reuniting with their Heavenly Father! That thought was worth the trip to Indy!

Dary also talked about the difference between loving people before they change and after they get cleaned up. That is the challenge and the trick! He said people won’t change until they are fully loved. I think he’s right!

Man… isn’t that so true?  I was just in blockbuster the other day and the guy mentioned something about church and dissed it.  I spoke up and said, Maybe you just haven’t found the right church.  He said I just couldn’t put up with all the politicing that goes on there and how the people with all the money has the power.  When I went to Puerto Rico, almost everyone I talked to had been to church and had stopped going because of the people in the church.  When are we going to start loving one another first and start representin’ Christ’s love?

I also think that this post from Perry is awesome and I can think of quite a few people I know that need to hear it.  So check it out! Now! Seriously, I’ll wait…

Ok, done?  I know some people could get mad at this statement, but GOD IS LOVE!  I know he has wrath, righteousness, justice and all that other stuff, but everything He does, comes from His perfect love for us.

There were a couple more that spoke to me… but I’ll save them for another time.  Plus I gotta get more organized with my clippings from bloglines.  Check out this post if you have no idea what i’m talking about. I use bloglines and I can keep up with my 34 blogs I’m reading and it only takes minutes a day.
