What I’m looking forward to

If any of you are still around reading this then you realize I hardly ever blog anymore.  I usually just share what I’m thinking/doing/whatever on twitter.  Twitter limits you to 140 characters and that works great for my simple little mind.  However as I was getting ready to twitter I realized I was excited about too much stuff coming up and decided 140 characters wouldn’t do.  So here you go.  Here’s what I’m currently looking forward to:

  • Passion Dinner
    • Tonight we are having dinner over at Justin and Brittany’s place.  This is the first time our group that went to Passion2010 has got together since the event.  The cool think is 8 of us went and I only knew 2 of them (3 if u count myself).  I love that when you go through something that huge together, even with complete strangers, it forms a bond that will last a lifetime.  Reminds me that all of us who have given our lives to Jesus has gone through something huge together and have a bond that will last more than a lifetime; for an eternity.
  • Game Night
    • Tonight at nine some friends are meeting at my place for a night of Settler’s of Catan. Yeah were all dorks but I bet were gonna have more fun than any of you going out and getting drunk and clubbing on a Friday night.  Just sayin’
  • Last night of Conan
    • If you guys aren’t following along with the whole Conan/Jay thing your missing out. Be sure to watch Conan tonight as it is his last show on NBC.  This will be something that will be talked about for a long time probably! Don’t miss it!
  • Census Bureau
    • Huh? Census Bureau? Yeah I’m excited because I may get to pick up some extra dough by working for the Census Bureau.  I go tomorrow for a test and interview.  Say a prayer please.
  • NEWSPRING
    • HECK YEAH!  Me and about 10 of my friends are all going to NewSpring’s 10th Anniversary Celebration!  It is going to be huge.  Huge because our God is huge and He’s gonna be there. Not that He’s not here right now with me writing this and you reading this, but you know what I mean.

Last Letter Documentary

What if we all lived like this? I don’t mean in Memphis in crack houses or in the middle of a jungle with the longest civil war in history. I mean what if we were so in love with God that we would go anywhere, do anything, at anytime for Him without fear of judgement from others or fear of losing our lives? I watched this video and just sat weeping.  I challenge you to watch this video; all of it. Then pray to God a dangerous prayer.  Pray Isaiah 6:8, “Here I am. Send me.” Tell Him you’ll be the one He can ask when ____________ (fill in the blank)

Please watch this. It starts a little slow but it gets better. If you really can’t watch the whole thing start at 4:55.

People of the Second Chance

If you have ever made a mistake and needed forgiveness then you need to watch this and start reading potsc.com.  So just so we are clear, that means you. Yes you have made a mistake at some point in your life. People of the Second Chance is all about grace and forgiveness.  Take for example Michael Vick.  What is your first thought of him when you hear his name? Do you want him to succeed in the NFL or because he made a stupid choice he should not succeed at anything?

We as Christians are supposed to be Christ like. That’s what we do we should do.  Christ forgave. PERIOD!  He is the one true Judge knowing our motives when we do things.  Yet He forgives.  Jesus said “By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another” (John 13:35 NIV)  Do you do more loving or more judging?

Power of Twitter – What Message does God want you to share?

1986computersintheoffice

Ever since I was 8 or so I can remember having a computer in the house.  Now for today’s culture, that’s no big deal at all, nothing special.  However, in 1986 or so that was rare.  I’m thankful my grandfather wanted me to have one so that I could get started on one at an early age. I have always been obsessed with technology and computers.

That is one of the reasons I love twitter.  I remember being a kid and going on a trip and meeting people and being sad because we would never hear from each other again.  That doesn’t happen now. Now you share IM screennames, twitter each other, read blog posts, follow on facebook/myspace.  The world is a much smaller place now.

Watch this video about Ashton Kutcher, twitter, and Malaria.  There is a line that he says that I loosely quote, “now we are in a time where a single person can have as large of a voice as huge news network.”  I am thankful that we have this technology.  I know a lot of traditional churches fight technology, but those same churches are usually the ones that circle up and show their butts to the world. How is it wrong when people are genuinely coming to Christ through technology.  Just look here, here, and/or here.  Amazing stories of Christ at work through technology.  Especially this video. God’s hands and feet are being shown to the World through twitter.

So watch this video then ask yourself, “What message does God want me to share with the World?” (literally… the world)

Being a good witness MUST WATCH video from Penn

Man! I just saw this video over on Taffy’s Blog and it was amazing!  It shows how important love is and how important the message is we have.  Even Penn says, if the message we preach is true than we shouldn’t let social awkwardness stop us from sharing it.  Also shows how important it is to live a life that is showing what we teach.  If we are preaching things and then being a hypocrite not only is that person not going to believe what we say, but we also cause them to not listen to others in the future and give Christians all over a bad name.  I know many people say this but I believe it is one of the biggest problems barriers to reaching the lost – We have to stop being known for what we are against and instead be known for what we are for!

The line, “at some point I’m gonna tackle you” is just earth shattering!  Also, when he talks about the guy being sincerely complimentary it made me imagine that was what Paul was like when he went into the market place and said, “It is plain to see that you Athenians take your religion seriously.” (Acts 17.22)  He won them over because he was sincere and a good genuine man.  He wasn’t blowing smoke up you know where.
